Writing Naked

Oh, keep your thoughts clean you dirty-minded people!  I don't mean you sit and write while naked, though I suppose one could do that if one chose to, no, what I'm referring to is the idea that when you do write, you are revealing a part of yourself to the outside world.  You open yourself and "expose" yourself to them.  It can be a bit intimidating.  Kind of like standing naked in front of the world.  What if "they" don't like it (I'm too fat)?  What if it's stupid (I don't measure up)?  See what I mean?

Even just writing this--which I must tell you is my first ever blog post--is terrifying!  What if what I have to say is not worthwhile?  What is it's bitter and leaves a sour note with the reader?  What if I misspell something or forget a comma and everyone will see my flaws...?  What if I'm found to be boring?  Well, then, I guess you'll move on to another blog less boring.  And that's okay.

I had to get myself to the point where I could honestly say that (forgive me) I'm not writing for your opinion.  I write because I enjoy it.  I love words.  Especially new ones.  I love the way a conversation can roll off the tongue.  Sometimes I think I'm my worst critic.  I find flaws constantly.  Oh well.  I'm human.  I error.  I live.  I keep writing.

God bless you-
Esther

  1. Congrats and welcome to the world of Blogging! I remember one of my first blog posts back in 2006 on marriedtothepastor.com, where I wondered (out loud) if there was anything to this blogging thing. Yep...there is. :-)
